Organizer Calls Family Weekend a 'Super Huge Success'

Saucon Valley Spirit Parade chairman and Family Weekend organizer Dave Heintzelman told Hellertown Borough Council that last month's events a 'super huge success' thanks to the efforts of volunteers and widespread community support.

Overall, last month's Family Weekend—which was held in conjunction with a big parade and an anniversary celebration for Hellertown's Dimmick Park—was a "super huge success," Saucon Valley Spirit Parade chairman and weekend organizer Dave Heintzelman told Hellertown Borough Council Monday.

Heintzelman thanked borough public works director Tom Henshaw and his employees for their assistance with staging the many events that took place Oct. 19-20, such as a Sunday morning community-wide religious service that drew nearly 500 people to a tent in the park next to Dewey Fire Co. No. 1.

He also singled out the members of Dewey Fire Co. for their cooperation.

Dewey was the host company for the Oct. 20 4-County Fireman's Parade, which featured firefighters and vehicles from throughout the Lehigh Valley and beyond.

"I think Hellertown showed community," Heintzelman said. "I want to thank Dewey Fire Co. (and) the community."

Councilwoman Gail Nolf thanked Heintzelman for his role as chief organizer of all the events and the parades.
