SV Spirit Parade Winners Announced
The winners of the judged categories in Sunday's 2013 Saucon Valley Spirit Parade have been announced by parade organizers.

The winners are as follows:
BEST APPEARING FLOAT
1st Place - Red Eagle Leadership Academy
2nd Place - Youth Football Players
3rd Place - Christ Lutheran Church, Hellertown
BEST APPEARING GROUP
1st Place - Saucon Valley Dance Conservatory
2nd Place - Girl Scouts of America, Saucon Valley Unit
3rd Place - Cub Scout Pack #319
BEST APPEARING INDIVIDUALS
1st Place - Pitstop the Clown, Harold D. Reitz
2nd Place - April, Arybella & Billy Horton - "Bella and the Big Bad Wolf"
3rd Place - 1964 Chevy Impala Convertible, Pastor Keith Easley
JUDGES' CHOICE - THEME CHOICE ("Honoring First Responders")
Richard Hanner - A Beautiful Jet Fighter
First place winners will receive $100, second place winners will receive $75 and third place winners will receive $50, with all checks mailed to the winners within two weeks, according to a news release from parade chairman Dave Heintzelman.
The Judges' Choice winner will receive a $150 prize.
In his news release about the results, Heintzelman congratulated all the winners and thanked everyone who participated in and helped make the 2013 parade—as well as the entire Spirit Weekend—possible.
"This is the time to thank those volunteers who spent countless hours putting these events together," he said, singling out both "the Dewey [Fire Co.] family" and "the Hellertown Borough family, who made sure Hellertown put together a safe enjoyable weekend for everybody."
"This community needed to show...what is positive in Hellertown, and we did that!" he added.
