Police Hope to ID Suspected Credit Card Thief

Hellertown Police want to identify a man suspected of using a resident's credit card to make purchases at various retail stores in Northampton County.

Hellertown Police say they are hoping to identify a man believed to have stolen and used a credit card belonging to a borough resident who lives in the 1100 block of New Jersey Avenue.

In a news release, police said the resident's wallet was stolen from his vehicle by a white man who is described as being 5'8" to 6'1" tall with brown hair.

That man is now wanted for theft, access device fraud and forgery, police said.

Police said the man suspected of the theft was captured on video surveillance using one of the resident's credit cards at four different stores: Topstar Exxon in Hellertown, Pantry 1 on Union Boulevard in Bethlehem, Wegmans on Wegmans Drive and Weis on Crawford Drive in Hanover Township, Northampton County.

The unidentified man was seen driving a light-colored, possibly 2006 or 2007 Honda Accord that is a "cheaper model with unpainted black door handles and mirror housings," according to the news release.

In addition to the credit cards, police said the resident's wallet contained his driver's license. A GPS unit was also stolen from the victim's car, they added.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call Hellertown Police at 610-838-7040 or 610-759-2200.
