'Large Amount of Drugs' Seized from Vehicle, Police Say

Hellertown Police say an East Brunswick, N.J., woman has been charged with possession with intent to deliver drugs.

A Main Street traffic stop eventually led to the seizure of a "large amount of drugs," Hellertown Police said last week in a news release.

According to police, the traffic stop in the 1100 block of Main Street occurred at 2:08 a.m. Dec. 16.

Police said the odor of marijuana was subsequently detected, and two occupants of the car were taken into custody, one of whom was later released without being charged.

Police identified the other person as Amarilis Velazquez, of the 400 block of Riva Avenue, East Brunswick, N.J.

After a search warrant was obtained for the car, police said the unspecified drugs were found inside it.

Velazquez was charged with possession with intent to deliver drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and a windshield obstruction violation, police said.

She was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail, they added.
