Fiery Hexenkoph Road Accident Under Investigation

Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast are investigating a one-vehicle accident that occurred early Tuesday.

Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast say they are investigating a fiery accident that occurred in the 300 block of Hexenkoph Road, Williams Township sometime before 4:55 a.m. Tuesday.

In a news release, police said the car that crashed "veered off the roadway and struck rocks, shrubbery and a mailbox...before becoming fully engulfed in fire."

The driver and any other occupants of the car "fled the scene prior to any emergency responders arriving at the scene," police added.

The car involved in the accident was identified by police as a white or red Ford Taurus SES sedan with a partial plate of "80" (unknown state).

Anyone with information about the car or the accident is asked to contact state police at 610-759-6106.

"This is an active hit-and-run investigation," authorities stressed in the release.
