Saucon Teachers Out of Touch
After reading the May 20 story regarding the latest contract demands by Saucon Valley teachers, I am convinced more than ever that members of the Saucon Valley Education Association are out of touch with the reality of life. Their demands, voiced through an aggressive new lawyer, are totally unrealistic. The teachers are concerned about themselves and only about themselves, showing an arrogance rarely seen among public servants whose livelihood comes directly from the people they (supposedly) serve. To SVEA members, it's all about keeping up with the Joneses, the Southern Lehighs and Bangors they seem to envy so much. After reading individual salaries for all district teachers in The Valley Voice, a Saucon Valley weekly, I say move to Southern Lehigh or Bangor or anywhere else if you're not happy here. Teachers with 20 years of service being paid $93,000? Rookies coming in at more than $40,000? Plus very nice benefit packages and summers off. And now they want more of this and that and other things, including retroactive salary for current and former teachers and coaches dating back to July, 2012. Are you kidding me? I am sure many of the SVEA members are fine teachers, but they are world-class whiners and self-promoters. Frankly, I'm very sick of their act.
