In spite of subfreezing temperatures, turnout was robust for the Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce's annual Light Up Night event in downtown Hellertown Friday, when the borough's light displays around Detwiller Plaza and at the municipal complex were turned on.

Highlights of the evening included a performance by the Saucon Valley High School Marching Band, Christmas carols sung by local Girl Scouts, remarks from Hellertown Mayor Richard Fluck and chamber president Stephanie Weitzman, and Santa's arrival at Borough Hall on a decorated Dewey fire truck.

Santa, accompanied by one of his elves, was warmly welcomed by the dozens of families waiting in line outside the building for the opportunity to meet him.

Photos with Santa were available inside Borough Hall.

Free hot cocoa was provided to attendees by The Meadows, and Just Born and Crayola donated gifts for the many children in attendance.

Bud Prosser delivered the invocation.
