George E. Rasich, 87, of Lower Saucon [Obituary]

George E. Rasich died Monday, July 8, 2013. He was the first full-time Lower Saucon Township Chief of Police and also worked for the township's Public Works Department.

George E. Rasich, 87, of Lower Saucon Township died Monday, July 8, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Helen (Banko) Rasich, who died July 20, 1999. He was born in Bethlehem on Sept. 13, 1925 to the late Stephan and Anna (Malik) Rasich. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during WWII. George was the first full-time Lower Saucon Township Chief of Police, and served on the force for a total of 19 years. He later worked for the Lower Saucon Public Works Department. He was an independent truck driver, serving the former Chicago Express and Banko Beverage. He also was a partner with S&G Oil Co., owned a Mobil gas station in Leithsville, and owned and operated George Rasich Excavating, Lower Saucon Township. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Springtown; the FOP; Silver Creek AA; Lower Saucon Rod and Gun Club; and the NRA.

SURVIVORS

Loving sons: David G. and his wife Cindy E., and Roger A. and his wife Christine A., both of Lower Saucon Township; siblings: Rose Mocidlowski and Walter (Anna), both of Hellertown; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Tricia A. McMackin officiating. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
