Frey's Better Foods Celebrating 30 Years in Business

Frey's Better Foods in Hellertown will celebrate its 30th anniversary with special events and specials Saturday.

When Frey's Better Foods first opened in downtown Hellertown 30 years ago, it was primarily a vitamin shop, co-owner and second generation member of the "Frey's family" Bruce Haas said recently.

Haas co-owns the Main Street health food store with his wife, Dianne, whose parents founded it in 1983.

Over the past three decades, the business has grown and expanded its offerings to include fresh produce, breads, canned and prepared foods, and many other items associated with healthy living.

The growth Frey's has experienced is one of the reasons many of its loyal customers are excited about a thirtieth anniversary celebration scheduled for Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

One of the highlights of the celebration will be the sale of a commemorative cookbook featuring recipes shared by Frey's customers.

Proceeds from the sale of the custom-printed cookbook will benefit Meals on Wheels of Northampton County, which Haas said Frey's supports by sponsoring one of the organization's routes in Hellertown.

Other highlights of the Saturday anniversary celebration will include:

  • Gift basket and $50 gift certificate drawings
  • Demonstrations by Garden of Life (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.), Nordic Naturals (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Plant Fusion (1 to 4 p.m.)
  • Free samples

Frey's is also offering a 30 percent off coupon for use on a non-sale item. That coupon is good on Saturday only and cannot be combined with other offers.

Vitamin line discounts will be offered throughout the month of June on Frey's, Enzymatic Therapy, TwinLab, Country Life, Terry Naturally, New Chapter, Nature's Way and Gaia Herbs vitamins, according to a flyer.

Haas stressed that extra off-street parking will be available behind neighboring businesses in the 1500 block of Main Street, in addition to Frey's rear lot.
