What's up with the Hess gas station on Route 309 in Orefield? It's sold three winning lottery tickets with large jackpots, in February, March and April.
What are the chances Wednesday's winning $60 million Powerball ticket will be sold at the Hess station on Route 309 in Orefield? About the same infinitesimal odds the same Hess gas station had in selling three winning lottery tickets with huge jackpots in the last three months. The long odds not only didn't deter customers from buying lottery tickets Monday, the rash of oddball wins actually attracted customers, such as Dawayne Brown, 23, of Orefield. "This is the first time I've bought a Powerball ticket," said Brown, who rushed out to buy a ticket after a co-worker at KidsPeace told him someone bought a lottery ticket worth $2 million at the lucky Hess station. The Hess station at 3640 Route 309 sold a winning Powerball ticket worth $2 …

The Powerball jackpot has climbed to $250 million after no one matched the winning numbers in Saturday night's drawing. The next drawing in the multi-state lottery -- including Pennsylvania -- will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 21. A standard Powerball wager costs $2, but players can select a "Power Play" option for an additional $1 when purchasing the ticket. Power Play increases the cash prize for any winning combination that isn't a jackpot. The Powerball lottery is played in 42 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The absence of a winner Saturday increased the jackpot by $36 million. A Lehigh Valley man bought a winning $1 million Pa. Lottery ticket in September and a $2 million Powerball ticket was sold at a local …

One Powerball ticket worth $2 million from the Oct. 17 drawing was sold at Wegmans near Bethlehem on Tuesday, the Pensylvania Lottery reported. That's the second big winner in the Lehigh Valley in just two months. An Upper Macungie Township man won $1 million with a lucky Cash 5 ticket he bought in September. Also, an Emmaus man bought a ticket worth $496,018 in August. The Pennsylvania Lottery recorded record high sales this year. This week's winning ticket correctly matched all five white balls -- 01-07-10-23-42 -- but not the red Powerball 35, and added Power Play, which sets the prize at $2 million, less 25 percent federal withholding. Wegmans will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling this winning ticket. Lottery officials cannot …
