Search for Missing Greyhound, Ruby, Goes On

Volunteers who are looking for her are planning another sign/flyer blitz in the Hellertown area this Sunday. Anyone who wants to help should meet at Water Street Park at 10am.

Although an aerial search of the Saucon Valley last weekend did not produce any sightings of Ruby--a greyhound who's been missing in the area for more than two months--the determination of her family and volunteers to find her hasn't waivered. According to the frequently updated Facebook page "Ruby the Lost Greyhound," the next tactic planned is a costly canine search to be led by a "Lost Pet Professional." Donations to help fund that search are now being accepted by the nonprofit Brave Tide Foundation, which also helped Ruby's owners--the Hoffman family of Allentown--with the resources that were needed for the Jan. 19 aerial search. According to its website, the Boyertown-based foundation "is a non-profit charitable organization committed…

UPDATE: The aerial search rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 16 has been postponed due to the weather forecast. It has been rescheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19 at 10am. Volunteers are still needed, and should plan to meet at Water Street Park (Hellertown) at 9:30am. For Facebook updates, like the "Ruby the Lost Greyhound" page. Sign Blitz Planned for 'Ruby the Lost Greyhound'

Ruby, a greyhound from Allentown, has been missing since Nov. 13. She has been repeatedly sighted in the Saucon Valley area, which is where volunteers plan to distribute flyers on Saturday.

The owners of a dog who's been missing since mid-November are hoping a Saucon Valley information blitz planned for Saturday will help bring her home. "Ruby the Lost Greyhound" has become something of a local Facebook phenomenon since she disappeared from her East Tioga Street, Allentown home on Nov. 13. Since then she's been sighted in the area of Stabler Arena in Lower Saucon Township, which is where she was last seen on Dec. 16. Ruby, a former racing dog, has a scar on her face and weighs about 50 pounds. She is white with a cropped tail, without tags, and a reward is being offered for her return. Anyone who spots Ruby is asked not to chase her. Tips can be called in by dialing 484-788-8580. On Saturday, according to the Facebook page …
