The Saucon girls soccer team was led by Tori Young, Callie Protchko, Alicia Binn and Helen Ross.
The Lady Panthers (21-2) won their first District XI AA title, shutting out Northwestern Lehigh (20-2) 3-0 Saturday. Tori Young (#14), Callie Protchko (#15) and Alicia Binn (#6) scored all the goals in the first half, and keeper Helen Ross had two saves. Saucon continues its post-season play on Tuesday, Nov. 6 (time, location and team TBD). "The first half was the best I've seen the team play all year," said coach Stevie Ochse of Saturday's game. "It was amazing to watch."

Van Buren, Polgar Fuel Big Win
The Lady Panthers entered play Thursday night just 3-7 for the season. Their opponents, the Bangor Slaters, were seeking their tenth win. Saucon Valley seized control of a close game in the second half, and behind senior Danielle Van Buren and junior Karine Polgar, the Panthers notched perhaps their biggest win of the basketball season with a 48-40 victory at Saucon Valley High School. The first quarter saw Polgar and Bangor junior guard Sam Hopkins each score six points, and senior Panther guard Kelly Feher hit a late three-pointer to give Saucon Valley a five point lead. League records: Palmerton 6-1, Saucon Valley 3-6
It was a cold winter night outside, but there was a hotly contested physical game inside the Panther gym, as Palmerton and Saucon Valley battled for four quarters Monday. If there was foreshadowing of how the game would end, it occured as the buzzer sounded to end the first quarter. Instead of a 12-9 Panther lead, the quarter ended as Casey Rinfret sank a jumper to pull Palmerton to within one point, 12-11. Both teams took turns holding the lead throughout the second quarter until the last 1:02, when the Bombers extended their 22-19 lead to 27-21 as the half ended.
