So far only a handful of people have registered for the Aug. 21 Community Yard Sale in Hellertown.
Do you have a lot of "stuff" you need to get rid of? Do you want to clean out the house before summer ends and the kids go back to school? Then your best bet may be to sign up for the Community Yard Sale to be held in Hellertown Sunday, Aug. 21 from 8am to 3pm. Hosted by the Hellertown Borough Business Revitalization Program and sponsored by Coldwell Banker Hearthside Realtors, the yard sale is open to borough residents and businesses that wish to set up sales in front of their properties. Although a $5 yard sale fee is normally charged by the borough, it will be waived for participants in this special event. A motion by Hellertown Borough Councilman Mike McKenna to send a letter in support of a regional board of health to Northampton County died for lack of a second.
A recent presentation by regional board of health backer and Northampton County Director of Human Services Ross Marcus apparently did little to convince Hellertown Borough Council members that the formation of a bi-county health department should have their support. At their March 21 meeting, council members had the opportunity to approve sending a letter in support of the regional health department proposal to Northampton County, but several council members criticized the group pushing for one for a lack of organization. The Hellertown Borough Business Revitalization Committee talked about organizing a community-wide yard sale on Aug. 21 at its monthly meeting Thursday.
Is your home in desperate need of de-cluttering? If so, you might be interested to know that the Hellertown Borough Business Revitalization Committee is considering organizing a community-wide yard sale the day after Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day. The yard sale, which would be held Sunday, Aug. 21, would need approval from Helletown Borough Council in order to happen. Participants would also need to pre-register for the event.
