Dewey Fire Company No. 1 in Hellertown recently welcomed four new interior firefighters to its fold.

Saucon Valley residents and business owners will be a little safer thanks to four new interior firefighters who recently completed training with Dewey Fire Company No. 1. Volunteers Derrick Deschler, Frank Craig, Jimmy Skibo and Jeff Lynam.

Viewfinder: Southeastern Fire Company

The volunteer fire company is housed in an historic schoolhouse in a beautiful rural corner of Lower Saucon Township.

Southeastern Fire Company is one of several well-established volunteer companies that serve and protect the Saucon Valley and its residents. Located at the corner for Crestline Drive and Wassergass Road in eastern Lower Saucon Township, the fire company's headquarters include an historic 1885 one-room schoolhouse. The South Eastern Sunday School was built in 1859 and rebuilt in 1885 by D.L. Fluck, according to its cornerstone. Southeastern's current chief is Michael Eshleman, and its current assistant chief is Tyson "Ty" Johnson.
