Student Used Fake ID to Buy $292 Worth of Booze: Police

Lower Saucon Township Police say Lehigh University student Garren Fritts, 20, used a counterfeit ID to buy $292 worth of alcohol at the Creekside Marketplace Wine & Spirits Store.

Several Lehigh University students were arrested Feb. 16, after Lower Saucon Township Police say an officer observed their vehicle parked in front of a stop sign, where it was reportedly "causing a major traffic hazard" outside the PA Wine & Spirits Store in the Creekside Marketplace shopping center on Route 412. In a news release, police said the three men were observed to have "a youthful appearance," and one was found to have purchased "a large quantity of product from the Wine & Spirit store." Police said that man was subsequently identified as Garren Fritts, 20, and according to police it was determined that he had purchased $292 worth of alcohol using a counterfeit ID "with clear intent to distribute it to others." Fine for Underage Drinking Now Higher in Pa.

A new Pennsylvania law hikes the fine for underage drinking

A new Pennsylvania law now in effect raises the maximum fine for someone under 18 caught drinking from $300 to $500, according to an Associated Press/Lehigh Valley Live report. The maximum fine is now $1,000 for a second offense.

Montgomery County Woman Charged With DUI-Controlled Substance On May 21 at 2:51pm police say Regina Stavish, of the 9500 block of Landis Lane, East Greenville, was involved in an accident after she drove across the double yellow line on Bingen Road, left the roadway and struck a tree. Stavish was later charged with DUI with/of a Controlled Substance, police said in a press release. Bucks Woman Was Allegedly DUI While Driving on Flat Tire On June 5 at 1:32am police say Ren Wylder, of the 600 block of Deerwood Lane, Quakertown, was stopped on Leithsville Road after she was observed "driving at a high rate of speed on a flat tire that had shredded off the vehicle and was damaging the rim." Borough Woman to Be Charged for Allegedly Shoplifting from CVS On Dec. 11 at 11:16am police say they were called to CVS, 1332 Main St., for a report of a retail theft. According to a police department press release, upon arrival officers were shown surveillance video of a theft that had occurred in the store. "After viewing the video surveillance, officers identified the (woman) committing the theft as Debora Weeks," police said. Weeks, 46, of the 1200 block of Main Street, Hellertown, was subsequently visited by officers at her residence, where she allegedly admitted to the theft and "handed over $148.88 worth of stolen merchandise," police said. Emergency Medical Call Leads to Arrests, Police Say

Hellertown police say they arrested borough residents Kristina Arnold, 18, and Philip Duffy, 21, after officers were dispatched to a home in the 1000 block of Second Avenue for an "intoxicated female emergency medical call" on Aug. 6.

Hellertown police say a phone call about an intoxicated female having a medical emergency led to the arrest of two borough residents Aug. 6. According to police, officers were dispatched to a home in the 1000 block of Second Avenue at 10:16pm, in response to the call. At that time, police were "obstructed from approaching the home to aid the (intoxicated) female by a male later identified as Philip Duffy, who was at that point taken into custody," police said in a press release. After Duffy was arrested, police say other occupants of the home said the female who needed aid had fled the residence and was running north on Main Street. Police subsequently apprehended her at Roth Avenue and Main Street, but while she was being taken into …

Man Cited After Allegedly Being Found Drunk in Roadway

Lower Saucon police say Charles Edward Bishop Jr. was found lying in the road at Mount Pleasant Road and Route 412 early on Aug. 1.

A 19-year-old Salisbury Township man was cited for underage drinking and public drunkenness after he was allegedly found lying in the roadway at Mount Pleasant Road and Route 412 early on the morning of Aug. 1, Lower Saucon Township police said Aug. 5. Charles Edward Bishop Jr., of the 2200 block of South Ellsworth Street, was found to be intoxicated when officers made contact with him at 5:59am, police said. Bishop was subsequently transported to St. Luke's Hospital by EMS, they added.
