A Hellertown man was arrested on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness Jan. 28, after police say he threatened to assault a cab driver. In a news release, police identified the man as Christopher Shane Thomas, 38, of the 400 block of Front Street, Hellertown, and said he also attempted to punch the cabbie in the head. Police said the alleged incident occurred in the 1200 block of Main Street at about 9 p.m. Thomas was arrested and released following an investigation, authorities added.
Lower Saucon officers were helping Brooks Pritchard find $14 in change for cab fare when they allegedly found the devices in his Route 378 home, according to a police department press release.
It was a rather unusual chain of events that led officers to discover "two tin foil smoking devices typically used to smoke the drug marijuana" in a township residence, according to a Lower Saucon Township Police Department press release from July 17. On July 16 at approximately 7:51pm, officers were called to the home of Brooks Pritchard, 49, in the 3800 block of Route 378, because he "didn't want to pay his $14 cab fare," police said. After officers arrived, they helped Pritchard by finding $14 in change to pay for his taxi. However, in doing so, they also located the foil smoking devices, police said. As a result of the alleged discovery, Pritchard will receive a Title 35 summons, police added.
