Woman Used Ex-Husband's Identity, Police Say

Michelle Rumfield of Coplay was charged with identity theft after she allegedly used a Lower Saucon resident's Social Security number and name without his permission, court records say.

A woman charged with identity theft admitted to police she used her ex-husband’s name and Social Security number without his permission to apply for a phone line, court records say. Michelle Rumfield, 44, allegedly made the admission a day after police were summoned by ex-husband Phillip Rumfield, a Lower Saucon Township resident, who said he suspected his wife made two requests with T-Mobile Online. Phillip Rumfield told police Monday that he checked his credit score and found an inquiry he did not authorize, the records say. As a result of the identity theft charge, Michelle Rumfield violated her parole and probation guidelines with Lehigh County, according to her court file. Hurricane Sandy Leaves Behind Spotty Cell Phone, Internet Connections

U.S. and local telecom networks, including RCN, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile and Sprint, are experiencing widespread disruptions in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

The editor of Nazareth Patch has no Hurricane Sandy war stories. The roof is intact, the shingles are in place, the branches are right where they're supposed to be, and the power -- although it flickered like a strobe light -- refused to give way. I was prepared to give my victory speech. But then Sandy delivered a cheap shot: both of my AT&T-powered cell phones are useless. Well played, Sandy. Well played. I tried taking to the Internet to find out why I had lost the ability to make and receive phone calls -- and why I could only send text messages if I contorted my body juuuuust right.
