Lower Saucon Township Police say an 11-year-old student at Saucon Valley Middle School was cited for disorderly conduct and harassment.
Lower Saucon Township Police said an 11-year-old boy was cited for harassment and disorderly conduct, after he allegedly struck another 11-year-old student in the face at Saucon Valley Middle School May 8. In a news release, police said the boy who struck his classmate was released to a parent after being cited.

The 6th annual Student Artistry Exhibit featuring works by Saucon Valley middle and high school students will open April 27 at the Heller Homestead in Lower Saucon Township.
Works by Saucon Valley high school and middle school students will be displayed in a local gallery beginning later this month. The Saucon Valley Conservancy has announced that the 6th annual Student Artistry Exhibit at the Heller Homestead will open with a public reception on Saturday, April 27. The exhibit is coordinated with the Saucon Valley School District and is under the direction of the district's related arts teachers. The homestead, which is located at 1890-92 Friedensville Road in Lower Saucon Township, will also host other special events that day in conjunction with Saucon Valley History Day. The flowers sold by Saucon Valley Middle School will help fund school trips, after-school workshops and assemblies.
The Saucon Valley Middle School Parent Teacher Group (PTG) is selling spring flowers and bulbs to benefit school programs, including trips and assemblies, according to a flyer about the current "Flower Power Fundraiser." Orders for a wide variety of flowers can be placed online. The Saucon Valley Parent Teacher Group will receive 50 percent of the proceeds from the flower sale, and the items purchased are guaranteed, according to the flyer. Orders will ship on April 1, 2013.

Saucon Valley School District school calendar was approved by the school board Jan. 7.

The Saucon Valley School Board of Directors approved the district's 2013-2014 school calendar at its Jan. 7 meeting, the district announced recently. The calendar is drawn around 184 days of instruction for students and 192 days of service for teachers, with four extra days built-in. The first day of school for Saucon Valley students enrolled in 2013-2014 is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 26, 2013 and the last day of instruction is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11, 2014. The calendar can be amended in the future by the school board, at its discretion.

Residents of a local shelter will benefit from a winter clothing drive organized by Saucon Valley students Emily Liska, Paige Medei and Alexis Royer. The students' project, which is called The Clothesline, is a clothing drive that will continue through Jan. 17 at Saucon Valley Middle School. According to a flyer distributed by the school district, used coats, blankets, gloves, hats, scarves, jeans, sweaters and long-sleeve shirts. Donated items can be left in drop boxes inside the school's two main lobbies. "This is for a good cause, so bring in your old things and feel like a good person," the girls said jointly in the flyer.
