Dining Dad Reviews: Louie's Bakery and Eatery, Emmaus

Better than your mother’s reheated food (and we mean that in the best way).

You know how sometimes, food is better the second day? That’s the feeling I had while eating at Louie’s Bakery in Emmaus. And while that sounds like a vague insult, remember that I am a dad of two, and my life is leftovers. So these are darn good. Parking Off street parking awaits in the back of the cheerful stand-alone building, as long as you don’t miss the turn-off. The building is essentially across from the Yocco’s on the outskirts of Emmaus, and the turn-off is before the building. Keep your eyes open. Family Perks 1. The back door. Family Perks 1. The …

Many locally grown or locally produced foods cross paths here, too. The back of the menu lists some of the area’s most inspired farmers. Every ingredient has a story to tell. The old stone house that houses Bolete (named for a mushroom) began life as a stagecoach stop and country inn. In its previous incarnation, it housed the Inn of the Falcon, another Lehigh Valley dining destination. The winter evening was cold. Torn between hot soup and cold lettuce for a first course, I chose the Liberty Gardens Mixed Greens Salad ($10) and was warmed by an abundance of …

No doubt a very good restaurant, but "caviar bacon" is rather hard to believe.   more ›
