Hellertown Pastry Chef Wins National TV Competition

Alan Pitotti, who owns Dolce Patisserie in Hellertown, was the grand prize winner on the Jan. 17 episode of the hit reality TV series "Sweet Genius" on the Food Network.

A Hellertown pastry chef and business owner is $10,000 richer (and a lot more famous) thanks to his victory on the Food Network reality TV show "Sweet Genius" last night. Alan Pitotti, who appeared on the Jan. 17 "Samba Genius" episode of the competition show, defeated three other contestants to win the grand prize and garner some prized national publicity for the borough. Pitotti is the owner of Dolce Patisserie, a boutique pastry shop that specializes in high-end confections and desserts. Dolce Patisserie is located in the Shoppes at Hellertown on Main Street. Pitotti is a Pen Argyl native who was educated at the Culinary Institute of America and worked at several high profile restaurants and hotels before opening his own business in the…

Local Restaurateur Launching Reality TV Show

Billy Kounoupis, the owner of Billy's Downtown Diner in Bethlehem, wants to help an aspiring entrepreneur achieve business success. A Hellertown resident, Erika Nicole Hoffmaster, is helping him in his search.

They gathered inside the lobby of the Heyman Talent agency in Nazareth Saturday--30 contestants hoping that their 10-minute pitches before judges would help them live the American dream. Billy Kounoupis, the owner of Billy's Downtown Diner in Bethlehem, is the one who can make that dream come true. A casting call was held Saturday for the new reality show "Start Me Up," in which Kounoupis has teamed up with Heyman Talent to select one person who will receive $20,000 for start-up costs and eight weeks of mentorship from Kounoupis to get their small business up and running.
