Woman Used Ex-Husband's Identity, Police Say

A woman charged with identity theft admitted to police she used her ex-husband’s name and Social Security number without his permission to apply for a phone line, court records say. Michelle Rumfield, 44, allegedly made the admission a day after police were summoned by ex-husband Phillip Rumfield, a Lower Saucon Township resident, who said he suspected his wife made two requests with T-Mobile Online. Phillip Rumfield told police Monday that he checked his credit score and found an inquiry he did not authorize, the records say. As a result of the identity theft charge, Michelle Rumfield violated her parole and probation guidelines with Lehigh County, according to her court file.
