Woman Left Crossroads Hotel Without Paying, Police Say On Nov. 26 at about 7:30pm police say officers were called to Matey's Crossroads Hotel for a report of a theft. Police said that information provided by employees helped them to identify Lindsey Lee Fluck, of the 500 block of Vine Street, Perkasie, as the "suspect who ran out the restaurant without paying the check." In a press release, police said Fluck had presented her driver's license to an employee while she was in the restaurant's bar area. She will receive a citation for theft of services, they added. Police Investigating Theft of Propane Tank On Nov. 27 police say they were called to Saucon Valley Meats to investigate the theft of a propane tank from the rear of the business. …

Readers' Choice: Matey's Crossroads Named Best Family Restaurant

Matey's Crossroads Hotel, a landmark Hellertown eatery, is the winner of this week's Readers' Choice contest.

The readers of Hellertown-Lower Saucon Patch have spoken, and according to them, Matey's Crossroads Hotel is the best family restaurant in the Saucon Valley. Matey's won this week's Readers' Choice poll with 25 percent of the vote (40 votes total). A nearby neighbor, Vassi's Drive-In, was the runner-up in the poll with 17 percent of the vote (27 votes). Matey's, which is located at the corner of Main and High streets in Hellertown, is locally famous for its pizza, its cheesesteaks, and the enormous blue marlin mounted on one of its walls, among other things. "If you hit the Crossroads, do order a cheese steak--they're really amazing!" wrote Patch reader Mark Albright in a 2011 review of the restaurant. You can leave a review or rating by …

Patch Poll Winner: Best Takeout

Who won the weekly poll?

The results are in, and Hellertown's Sagra Bistro was named the best place for takeout in Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township. Sagra received 27 percent of the vote and edged out Vassi's Drive-In (which garnered 21 percent of the vote) and Matey's Crossroads Hotel (which received 20 percent of the total vote), both of which are dining landmarks for many people in the Hellertown area. Sagra Bistro is a relatively new arrival to the Saucon Valley restaurant scene, but it has quickly attracted a loyal following among local residents, and is currently rated 5 stars on Patch.
