Jaycees Announce Annual Inductions, Awards

The Saucon Valley Jaycees held their annual ceremony Jan. 26 in Hellertown.

The Saucon Valley Jaycees held their annual Inductions and Awards Ceremony on Jan. 26 at Hellertown's Wagner Grist Mill. The 2013 club officers inducted were: Lori Jardel -- President Cassandra Fotta -- Internal Vice President Chris Reilly -- External Vice President Beth Gaston -- Secretary Jillian Mancuso -- Director The Presidential Award was presented to Chris Reilly and Beth Gaston. The Jaycee Of The Year Award was presented to Beth Gaston. Three new members inducted were: Joe Lucas Camille Moreno Jillian Mancuso -Information provided by the Saucon Valley Jaycees

Next Christmas, Santa May Go Hungry in Hellertown

The Saucon Valley Jaycees fear a decline in membership will lead to the demise of their organization and the cancellation of popular events, such as "Breakfast with Santa."

According to Saucon Valley Jaycees president Lori Jardel, this might be the last "Breakfast with Santa" held at the Dewey Fire Co. in Hellertown. The annual event was held Saturday, Dec. 17, and attracted dozens of families for whom eating pancakes with Kris Kringle has become an annual tradition. Jardel has been a member of the Saucon Valley Jaycees for 11 years. She's concerned for the future of the group based on a warning the Jaycees recently received from the state, and she's now asking for community support in order to keep the organization alive. Dear Christain Maddie, Apparently your Christian senses are dull. Everyone know Christmas is a Christain Holiday. And yes Santa is a tradition based on a kind man years ago who gave to poor children.
