Woman on Prescription Drugs Drove Off Road: Police

Lower Saucon Township Police say Joanne S. Moore, of the 1700 block of Easton Road, Durham Township, has been charged with DUI-Controlled Substance.

A woman who allegedly drove erratically has been charged with DUI-controlled substance, Lower Saucon Township Police announced in a news release. According to police, Joanne S. Moore, of the 1700 block of Easton Road, Durham Township, was stopped on the afternoon of April 5 after a motorist flagged down a passing patrolman to tell him "the vehicle in front of him had just run off the roadway." Moore was stopped near the intersection of Polk Valley and Leithsville roads, and at that time "officers detected several clues that Moore was driving under the influence of a depressant," police said. Police said Moore "admitted to ingesting prescription drugs including Oxycodone and Valium," and that "further testing revealed that (she) was under …

Sun Glare Blamed in Lower Saucon Accident

Lower Saucon Township Police say Gerald Kunsman, of Bucks County, told them he rear-ended another car because he was blinded by sun glare. A woman was injured in the crash.

A Springtown, Bucks County man blamed sun glare for an accident police say he caused at the intersection of Flint Hill and Leithsville roads. In a news release, police said Gerald Kunsman, of the 3200 block of Main Street, rear-ended a vehicle driven by Denese Tiedeman, of the 1600 block of Molly Lane, Lower Saucon, at 8:06 a.m. April 9. Tiedeman was taken to St. Luke's University Hospital by Dewey EMS, they added. "(Kunsman) said he did not see (Tiedeman) stopped in the roadway attempting to turn left because of the sun glare," police said. Authorities added that Kunsman was cited for a violation of the vehicle code, "Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed," following the accident.

Leithsville Road Home 'Ransacked,' Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police say they are investigating a burglary that occurred in the 1900 block of Leithsville Road.

Lower Saucon Township Police say they are investigating a burglary reported by a resident of the 1900 block of Leithsville Road. In a news release, police said the 43-year-old resident found that his home had been "entered and ransacked." The discovery was made early on the evening of March 22, according to authorities. Although $60 was reportedly taken from a wallet in the kitchen area, it appeared as though nothing was missing from the rest of the home, police said. Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact the Lower Saucon Police Department at 610-317-6110.

Man Caused Wrong-Way Crash on Rt. 412: Police

Lower Saucon Township Police say Alexander Groves of Easton drove north in the southbound lane and struck another vehicle.

A man drove the wrong way in the 1900 block of Leithsville Road (Route 412) and struck another vehicle, Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release. According to police, Alexander Groves, of the 900 block of West Berwick Street, Easton, was traveling north in the southbound lane of the roadway when he struck a vehicle operated by Joanne Hillegass, of the 1500 block of Elayne Street, Bethlehem. Police said the accident occurred at 7:39am March 11 and was described to them by witnesses. When officers arrived at the scene of the accident, police said they found that both vehicles had suffered "disabling damage" and Hillegass was "complaining of back and neck pain." Truck's Windshield Smashed With Blunt Object: Police

Lower Saucon Township Police say the windshield of a pickup truck was recently smashed with a blunt object in the 2000 block of Leithsville Road.

Lower Saucon Township Police say they are investigating a smashed vehicle windshield as a case of criminal mischief. In a press release, police said the windshield was smashed on a Toyota pickup truck that was parked in the 2000 block of Leithsville Road. Police said the damage was inflicted with "what appears to have been some type of blunt object." The damage was reported to authorities on the morning of March 2, and reportedly occurred sometime during the week prior. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Lower Saucon Township Police Department at 610-317-6110.

Drunken Man Punched Out Window, Hid in Tub: Police

Lower Saucon Township Police say Jayson Vierbuchen was intoxicated when he allegedly caused a ruckus at 1999 Leithsville Road.

An Upper Black Eddy man was drunk Feb. 21 when he punched the window out of another man's car and then hid in a tub inside an apartment at 1999 Leithsville Road, Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release. Police said Jayson Vierbuchen, 20, of the 1200 block of Bridgeton Hill Road, hid "because he was intoxicated." Officers were called to the address at 5:45 p.m. for a report of a fight. Upon arrival, they were told Vierbuchen had gone inside Apartment 1, police said. Vierbuchen will be charged with criminal mischief, public drunkenness and underage drinking, according to police. They added that he will also be charged with False ID to Law Enforcement for allegedly telling officers his name was "Brett Tomko" and that he was 21 …

Police: Man Had Coffee Cup Half Full of Beer in Car

Lower Saucon Township Police say Juan Maldonado, of the 1100 block of Mechanic Street, Bethlehem, was charged with transporting open containers of alcohol Jan. 18.

A Bethlehem man was charged with transporting open containers of alcohol Jan. 18, after Lower Saucon Township Police say a coffee mug half full of beer and several open bottles of Rolling Rock beer were found in his car following a vehicle stop on Route 412. In a press relase, police said Juan Maldonado, of the 1100 block of Mechanic Street, was stopped at 1:57pm for driving with a suspended registration due to insurance cancellation. It was subsequently learned that his license was also suspended, authorities said. Police Maldonado claimed that the "open containers were from when his mechanic was looking at his vehicle." In addition to the open container violation, police said Maldonado was charged with driving with a suspended license …

Man OD'ed on Heroin, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police say Jeffrey Niess, of the 2200 block of Leithsville Road, overdosed on heroin on Oct. 20, 2012.

A township man who allegedly overdosed on heroin in October now faces charges related to the incident, according to the Lower Saucon Police Department. In a press release issued Saturday, police said Jeffrey Niess, of the 2200 block of Leithsville Road, took the drug Oct. 20. At 9:22am officers were dispatched to Niess' home "for an overdose," and he was subsequently taken to St. Luke's University Hospital for treatment, according to the press release. Police said that inside Niess' home they found marijuana, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. Niess faces various charges of possession related to the alleged discovery of those items, according to authorities.
