The new fire station in Lower Saucon Township will be built on the site of the old one, which was destroyed in a fiery May 24, 2012 accident.
At a breakfast fundraiser Jan. 13, attractive plans for a new Leithsville Fire Station were prominently displayed along with photos of the old station after it was consumed by flames. Thus, it will be set back an additional 20 to 25 feet from the busy intersection of Leithsville and Flint Hill roads, Krycia said. It was less than eight months ago that the old station--a Lower Saucon Township landmark--was destroyed by fire after a runaway dump truck crashed into it …

Lower Saucon Township Police have announced that there "is no evidence of criminal liability" in the May 24, 2012 accident that destroyed the Leithsville Fire Station.
Lower Saucon Township Police announced Thursday that criminal charges will not be filed in the accident that resulted in the destruction of the Leithsville Fire Station on May 24, 2012. Killed in the accident was John Muzyka, 56, of Springtown, Springfield Township, who was driving on Leithsville Road (Route 412) in front of the fire station when a dump truck operated by Michael Thomas struck him. That accident occurred after Thomas failed to stop at the stop sign at Leithsville and Flint Hill roads. After it was struck Muzyka's vehicle was pushed into the fire station building, where a large fire erupted, destroying fire company vehicles and equipment. Thomas survived the accident, but reportedly suffered serious burns. In addition to …

The Leithsville Fire Station in Lower Saucon Township was heavily damaged Thursday afternoon when a dump truck loaded with blacktop crashed into it, sparking a massive blaze.
UPDATE, 6:30pm: Palmer Township and Upper Bucks volunteer fire companies are reportedly covering the Hellertown area this evening, as local fire crews remain at the scene of the badly-damaged Leithsville Fire Station. According to recent scanner reports, all or part of the building may be in danger of collapse. As of 6:15pm all units were being ordered to "stay clear of the building." The Leithsville Fire Station on Route 412 in Lower Saucon Township burned early this afternoon, after a dump truck loaded with blacktop reportedly lost its brakes traveling down Flint Hill Road and crashed into one of the building's three street-facing bays. At about 2:15pm the multiple-alarm fire appeared to be under control, although portions of the heavily…
