Traffic Stop on Buttermilk Road Yields Pot, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police also announced recently that a Sherry Hill Road resident was cited for a dog law violation.

Man Found in Possession of Small Amount of Marijuana, Police Say Following a Feb. 9 traffic stop by police on Buttermilk Road, Matthew Leidy, of the 2100 block of Freemansburg Avenue, Wilson, was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia, Lower Saucon Township police say. Police indicated in a press release that Leidy was arrested on charges of possession. Woman Cited for Dog Law Violation, Police Say Allison Marie Sterner, of the 4000 block of Sherry Hill Road, was cited for a dog law violation Feb. 13, after police say her dog was found roaming in the 3900 block of Sherry Hill Road at 12:41 p.m. Police said the citation was for "Confinement of Dogs." Man Charged for Allegedly Failing to Register Alarm System Police say Jose Santiesteban, of the 1800 block of Viola Lane, was recently charged with failure to register an alarm system at his home, which is a violation of a township code. In a press release police said officers have responded to incidents involving the alarm's activation at Santiesteban's home. Police said they also sent him letters warning him to register the alarm, to which he allegedly failed to respond. Police Respond to Accident at Quarter Mile, Bingen Roads On Nov. 15 at 4:37pm police say they responded to a multiple vehicle accident at the intersection of Quarter Mile and Bingen roads. Carbon County Man Charged With DUI On April 21 at 11:57pm police say an officer observed a tan Chevrolet make a traffic violation on East University Avenue near Rt. 378. Police said in a press release that the driver of the vehicle was identified as Cody Sallada, of the 300 block of Deer Lane, Lehighton. Sallada was found to be under the influence of marijuana "and also had a small amount of marijuana in his vehicle," police said. Sallada has been charged with DUI, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and summary traffic violations, they added. Police: Owner of Puppy Sprayed with Pepper Spray Issued Citation

Police say Dawn Stein of Stonesthrow Road was issued a citation for "Confinement of Dogs" after her puppy went into the road and was sprayed with pepper spray by a passing dog-walker.

A Lower Saucon Township resident was cited Feb. 22 for allegedly failing to keep her dog confined to her property, township police said in a press release Friday. Police said that Dawn Stein, of the 1300 block of Stonesthrow Road, was issued a citation for "Confinement of Dogs" after her puppy went into the road in the late afternoon. When a woman who was "walking by with her dog" encountered the puppy, she sprayed it with pepper spray, police said in the release. Police identified the passing dog-walker as Nancy Santucci, also of the 1300 block of Stonesthrow Road, Lower Saucon Township.

I know this incident happened months ago, but it still bothers me that Ms Santucci would cause so many problems with neighbors. She needs to get a life. I have been neighbors with Dawn and family for over 20 years. They are wonderful people and didn't deserve what happened. Oh and I also agree with the comment made by Stephanie about the TPD.   more ›

Upper Macungie Woman Arrested for DUI On Jan. 20 at 11:40pm police say an officer on patrol in the area of the Saucon Square shopping center "observed a vehicle drive straight through a stop sign in front of Lafayette (Ambassador) Bank, (and) then turn left at the next traffic light without using a signal." Police said in a press release that the car was subsequently stopped on Route 378 South and its driver identified as Carin Minchen, of the 300 block of Barn Swallow Road, Upper Macungie Township. Police said Minchen exhibited signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. She was determined to have a blood aclohol content (BAC) of .15 percent and was arrested for DUI, they said. The following alleged incidents have been reported by the Lower Saucon Township Police Department: Woman Allegedly Knocks Over Light Post at Shopping Center On Sept. 6 at 4:42pm police say Kristina Berger, of the 200 block of Main Street, Hellertown, was driving in the parking lot at Giant, 1880 Leithsville Road, when she struck and knocked over a light post. Police said both of Berger’s vehicle’s front air bags deployed as a result of the accident. She will be cited for careless driving, they added.
