Woman Fell Asleep Driving, Struck Parked Car, Police Say

Hellertown Police say Karen I. Fischer, of Hidden Valley Road, Doylestown, told them she briefly fell asleep while driving before crashing into a parked car in the 300 block of Main Street.

A Bucks County woman will be cited with careless driving, after Hellertown Police say she briefly fell asleep while driving on Main Street Feb. 24. In a news release, police said Karen I. Fischer, of the 6100 block of Hidden Valley Road, Doylestown, was southbound in the 300 block of Main Street shortly after 5 p.m. when she fell asleep, crossed the northbound travel lane and struck a vehicle that was parked in front of 329 Main St. There were no injuries reported as a result of the accident, but police said both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Police said the car that was struck is owned by Heather Onuschak of Hellertown.

Teen's Car 'Burst Into Flames' After Hitting Tree, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police say the fiery accident happened on Apple Street.

A 17-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a car that struck a tree and "burst into flames" on Apple Street Jan. 19, Lower Saucon Township Police announced in a press release late last week. Police said the accident happened in the 2500 block of Apple Street at 8:25 p.m. They added that the car only caught fire after the driver and a passenger got out of it. Authorities identified the passenger as a 14-year-old girl from Hellertown, and said she was "hospitalized for multiple injuries" following the accident. According to police, the driver was cited for careless driving, reckless driving, and failure to drive at a safe speed.

Police ID Victim, Driver in Giant Parking Lot Accident

Lower Saucon Township Police say Dorothy Zesch, of the township, struck Laurette Sauter, of Springfield Township, in the parking lot of the Giant Food Store at 1880 Leithsville Road on Feb. 13.

Police have released the name of the motorist who allegedly struck a pedestrian in the parking lot of the Giant Food Store in Lower Saucon Township Feb. 13. According to a Lower Saucon Police Department press release issued Monday, Dorothy Zesch, of the 1800 block of Felicity Lane, Lower Saucon Township, was the driver who struck Laurette Sauter, of the 3500 block of Buckwampum Road, Springfield Township, at approximately 4:21pm. Police said that upon officers' arrival at the scene, "(Sauter) was lying in the parking lot and when EMS arrived she was transported to St. Luke's Hospital." Zesch was issued a traffic citation for careless driving following the incident, police said. At least one other pedestrian accident is reported to have …

Two Arrested for Marijuana Possession During Traffic Stop, Police Say On Nov. 17 at about 2:51pm police say they stopped Stanley Vincent, 47, of the 600 block of Fourth Avenue, Bethlehem, and Jamie Ziegler, 40, of the same address, in the 1600 block of Main Street for alleged traffic violations. Both Vincent and Ziegler were subsequently found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and a pipe used as paraphernalia, police said in a Dec. 7 press release. Driver Struck Mailbox, Sign and Pole, Police Say

Lower Saucon police say an Upper Macungie man became distracted before his vehicle struck several objects along Leithsville Road July 21.

A July 21 accident in the 1900 block of Leithsville Road occurred when the driver of a vehicle allegedly became distracted, Lower Saucon Township police said Monday. According to police, officers were dispatched to the accident scene at approximately 11:41pm. At that time, police said they determined that James Carvolth Johnston, 51, of the 1300 block of Warba Drive, Upper Macungie Township, had traveled across the oncoming lane of travel and into a yard. Before striking a PPL pole--where his vehicle came to rest--police said Johnston ran over a mailbox and a PennDOT sign.
