Hellertown Police say Pedro Hernandez, 75, of Hellertown, struck a parked 1999 Volkswagen Beetle on Rentzheimer Drive, causing it to coast about 325 feet down the street.
The driver of a 15-passenger van became distracted when a bottle of water spilled and he lost control of his vehicle, striking a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle parked in the 500 block of Rentzheimer Drive, Hellertown Police announced in a press release. According to police, Pedro Hernandez, 75, of Hellertown, was driving the van when the accident occurred at 9:18 a.m. May 5. Police said the impact from the collision caused the VW to coast approximately 325 feet down the street, where it came to rest in the front yard of a home. The Bug had to be towed from the scene because its owner could not be located, police added. Hernandez was cited for careless driving, according to Hellertown Police.

Lower Saucon Township Police say an Upper Saucon Township man will be cited for following too closely and driving with a suspended license, after he allegedly caused a car accident at Route 378 and Koehler Drive May 3. In a press release, police said Erik Ward, 38, of the 2800 block of Station Avenue, Center Valley, was in the process of turning from Route 378 onto Koehler when he tried "to beat traffic." Police said that as he turned, Ward rear-ended another vehicle in front of him. The accident occurred at about 6 p.m., police said.

Hellertown Police say a teenage girl caused an accident when she rear-ended a Ford SUV on Main Street near Hess Avenue.
Hellertown Police say a teen driver was recently cited as a juvenile as a result of a Main Street accident. In a news release, police said the accident occurred near Hess Avenue on April 20 at about 11:23 a.m. Police said an investigation determined that the girl—who was northbound in a Honda—rear-ended a Ford SUV in front of her because she was following it too closely. The impact from the crash "caused the rear of the Ford SUV to come off the ground," police said, adding that the SUV sustained "minimal damage" while the Honda the girl was driving incurred "moderate front end damage." No injuries were reported as a result of the accident, according to authorities.

Hellertown Police say a motorist cited sun glare as the reason she rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection of Main and High streets.
Hellertown Police say a borough woman cited temporary blindness due to sun glare as the reason she didn't see a vehicle stopped in front of her at the intersection of Main and East High streets. In a news release, police said Denise Becker, 59, was driving a Honda when she rear-ended a Toyota pickup truck after crossing through the intersection at about 4:24 p.m. on April 17. Police said the initial impact caused a chain reaction-type accident, with the pickup then striking a Honda in front of it. Lower Saucon Township Police say a car accident that occurred near Saucon Valley High School earlier this month was caused by a driver under the age of 18.
A two-car accident near Saucon Valley High School that caused injuries earlier this month occurred when a teen driver "did not yield to right-of-way traffic while entering a roadway," Lower Saucon Township Police announced in a press release. Police said the boy "pulled in front of" a vehicle operated by a township woman. The April 15 accident happened at about 4:15 p.m. at Reservoir Road and Panther Way, police said. The boy—who was not named because he is a minor—was cited following the accident, police added.

Hellertown Police say they are investigating an accident that occurred in the Rite Aid parking lot at Main and Walnut streets as a hit-and-run.
Hellertown Police are seeking information from the public about a hit-and-run accident they say occured in the Rite Aid parking lot at 110 Main St. In a news release, police said witnesses reported that a green Subaru station wagon struck a Jeep and then fled the scene. Police said "surveillance video confirmed witness accounts." The accident occurred Feb. 20 at about 3:57 p.m., according to authorities. Emergency personnel reportedly responded to a car accident near Saucon Valley High School in Lower Saucon Township Monday afternoon.
A two-car accident in Lower Saucon Township near Saucon Valley High School resulted in injuries Monday afternoon, according to police radio reports cited by the Morning Call. According to the newspaper, the accident happened near the intersection of Reservoir Road and Rose Lane at 4:15 p.m. and injured a woman and a teenager. That intersection is near the school district's Montford E. Illick Stadium. Lower Saucon Township Police say Gerald Kunsman, of Bucks County, told them he rear-ended another car because he was blinded by sun glare. A woman was injured in the crash.
A Springtown, Bucks County man blamed sun glare for an accident police say he caused at the intersection of Flint Hill and Leithsville roads. In a news release, police said Gerald Kunsman, of the 3200 block of Main Street, rear-ended a vehicle driven by Denese Tiedeman, of the 1600 block of Molly Lane, Lower Saucon, at 8:06 a.m. April 9. Tiedeman was taken to St. Luke's University Hospital by Dewey EMS, they added. "(Kunsman) said he did not see (Tiedeman) stopped in the roadway attempting to turn left because of the sun glare," police said. Authorities added that Kunsman was cited for a violation of the vehicle code, "Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed," following the accident.
