Lower Saucon Township Police say they are seeking information about a man who was rear-ended by a township dump truck on Bingen Road near Friedensville Road.
Lower Saucon Township Police say they are investigating a hit-and-run accident that involved a township public works employee. In a news release police said the accident occured at about 9:40 a.m. April 25, when township dump truck driver Jeremy Frey made contact with the rear bumper of a newer maroon Chevy Tahoe as both vehicles were eastbound on Bingen Road, approaching the intersection with Friedensville Road. Police said the impact occurred "when the Tahoe slowed for traffic," and resulted in "a small scratch approximately 1 inch in length" on the Tahoe's bumper. Hellertown Borough Council recently approved a proposed gateway sign that would help direct motorists to downtown. The sign is proposed for the intersection of Mountain Drive South and Hickory Hill Road in Lower Saucon.
Although Lower Saucon Township Council must still OK it, Hellertown Borough Council unanimously green-lit a directional "gateway sign" the Borough Business Revitalization Program (BBRP) has proposed installing at the intersection of Bingen Road/Mountain Drive South and Hickory Hill Road/Friedensville Road. The sign would direct visitors to downtown Hellertown shopping and dining, and would be located at the southwest corner of the busy intersection, which straddles the border between Bethlehem and Lower Saucon Township. It would also direct out-of-towners to the popular Saucon Rail Trail, which is accessible at Water Street Park. Although roads were snow- and slush-covered at the time, Lower Saucon Township Police say a local motorist will be cited for "Driving at Safe Speeds" following an accident that occurred Friday, Jan. 25. In a news release, police said Christopher M. Mamy, of the 1000 block of Third Avenue, Hellertown, reported that he was traveling at approximately 30mph in a posted 40mph zone on Bingen Road southbound when he approached the curve at the intersection with Old Mill Road. Police: Man Had .25 Percent Blood Alcohol Content On Dec. 1 at 11pm police say Harris Robert Brown, of the 1600 block of Finches Garden Road, Bethlehem, was stopped in the parking lot of Starters Pub on Route 378 after a witness reported that he was allegedly driving recklessly through the township. Police said Brown also failed to stop after he allegedly struck the mirror of another vehicle on Saucon Valley Road, and that the witness followed Brown until he was stopped by officers on Route 378. At that time, "Brown was not cooperative and refused to perform (field sobriety tests)," police said. Man Charged for Allegedly Failing to Register Alarm System Police say Jose Santiesteban, of the 1800 block of Viola Lane, was recently charged with failure to register an alarm system at his home, which is a violation of a township code. In a press release police said officers have responded to incidents involving the alarm's activation at Santiesteban's home. Lower Saucon Township Police say the accident occurred Oct. 2 at Mountain Drive South and Bingen Road.
Two motorists were cited following an accident at Bingen Road and Mountain Drive South Oct. 2, Lower Saucon Township Police announced in a press release Wednesday. Police said the accident occurred at approximately 6:37pm. There were no injuries sustained, but the vehicle operated by Matthew Lutcza, 22, of the 100 block of Meadow Ridge Acres Road, Dingmans Ferry, Pa., had to be towed from the scene, police said. The operator of the other vehicle was identified by police as Robert Rothacker, of the 2000 block of Majestic Overlook Drive, Lower Saucon. Lower Saucon Township Police say a man and woman were cited for disorderly conduct after they were found engaged in sexual intercourse in the parking lot of Ebenezer New Reformed Church, 3221 Bingen Road.
A man and woman were cited for disorderly conduct Sept. 20 after Lower Saucon Township Police say they found them having sex in a vehicle parked in the lot next to Ebenezer New Reformed Church, 3221 Bingen Road. Police said in a press release that John Joseph Pupa Jr., of the 1500 block of Richard Avenue, Bethlehem, and Allison Felderman, of the first block of South Whitehall Road, Norristown, were "observed engaged in sexual intercourse" at about 2:35pm. After they were cited both were released, police said.
