Police: Drug Played Role in October Accident

Lower Saucon Township Police say Robert Jackson Jr., 51, of Holland, Pa., was under the influence of morphine when he wrecked his car on Leithsville Road Oct. 14.

A Bucks County man has been charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and reckless driving as a result of an Oct. 14 accident that occurred near Bechdolt's Orchard, Lower Saucon Township Police announced Thursday. In a press release, police said Robert Jackson Jr., 51, of the first block of Cropwell Lane, Holland, Pa., wrecked his vehicle on Leithsville Road (Route 412) shortly after 11pm. When officers responded to the accident scene they found the vehicle upside down and on fire in the orchard, about 15 feet from the roadway, the press release said. According to police, Jackson was southbound when he struck a utility pole--sheering it off--and rolled over 400 feet before ending up in the orchard. In spite of the …

Bechdolt's Will Be at New Sun Inn Farmers Market

Bechdolt's Orchards of Lower Saucon Township will be one of the vendors at the newly-announced Sun Inn Farmers Market in downtown Bethlehem. The market will open May 8.

A new farmers market to be held weekly in the Sun Inn courtyard in historic downtown Bethlehem will open Tuesday, May 8 with more than a dozen vendors, including one from the Saucon Valley. The market will run from 11am to 3pm every Tuesday until Oct. 23. (Closer to home, the Saucon Valley Farmers' Market will open for its sixth season on Sunday, May 6 in Hellertown's Water Street Park. It will be open weekly on Sundays from 9am to 1pm through late November.)
