The Borough of Hellertown government offices -- including police, zoning and public works -- are housed in an…More historic stone building once the home of Dr. Henry Detwiller. Detwiller, for whom the plaza adjacent to Borough Hall is named, built his home in 1818 and willed it to his son Dr. William Detwiller. The two-story structure later became the Central Hotel before it was purchased by the borough for municipal use in 1939.
A 1997 addition to the building houses meeting space, council chambers and additional office space for the Borough Manager and staff. The Borough of Hellertown was incorporated in 1872 and has 5,606 residents according to the 2000 U.S. census.
