Relay for Life of Saucon Valley draws hundreds to Hellertown's Dimmick Park to raise awareness—and funding—on behalf of the American Cancer Society. This year's relay was held Saturday and raised more than $50,000 for the ACS.
Raised beds at Christ Lutheran Church of Hellertown are being used to grow vegetables that will feed both members of the congregation and patrons of the New Jerusalem Food Bank.
The Saucon Creek Watershed Association will hold a rain barrel workshop May 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Seidersville Hall, 3700 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bethlehem. Register in advance by emailing Keri Maxfield at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Relay for Life of Saucon Valley, which raises money to help find a cure for cancer, will be held Saturday and Sunday in Hellertown's Dimmick Park. Relay teams will walk laps in the park over a 24-hour period and other special events will take place.
A rededication and flag-raising ceremony was held at Hellertown's Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397 Saturday. Volunteers, veterans and legionnaires gathered to celebrate the post's reopening earlier this year.
The weekend of Oct. 19-20, 2013 is when the borough will host both the Saucon Valley Spirit Parade and the 4-County Fireman's Parade. A special 'Family Weekend' is being planned around those events.
A public ceremony will be held at Hellertown's Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397 at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4. The legion reopened in February after a closure of nearly five years.

The Saucon Valley Farmers' Market will open for its 2013 season at Hellertown's Water Street Park on Sunday, May 5 at 9am.
