Constance "Connie" Faith Anderson Donaldson, 89, of Lower Saucon Township died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Coatesville on Oct. 15, 1923 to the late Dudley and Beatrice Mast Moulder Anderson. She was an alumna of Upper Leacock High School in Leola and also graduated in 1945 from Lancaster General College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Connie started her nursing career in New York City before moving to Pennsylvania, where she worked as a registered nurse for Blough Nursing Home, Bethlehem for several years and later at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Fountain Hill Annex for 20 years. Frances Mae (Andrews) Werley, 91, of South Whitehall Township, formerly of Upper Saucon Township, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of the late Luther C. Werley, who died June 1, 2003. She was born in Bowmanstown on Nov. 29, 1921 to the late Andrew R. and Julia F. (Stanley) Andrews. Frances was an expert seamstress at various textile companies. She was a member of New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lower Saucon Township, and served on its Altar Guild. John A. Garganta, 81, of Hellertown, died Friday, April 26, 2013 at Gracedale, Upper Nazareth Township. He was born in Bridgeport on Feb. 7, 1932 to the late Antonio and Congetta (Capaldo) Garganta. John served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated the former Garganta's Service Station, Bethlehem. John was a member of Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Hellertown. John was an avid soccer player and served as referee for soccer games and was inducted in 1996 into the Northampton County and Lehigh Valley Soccer Halls of Fame. Fluck, who died May 20, 1996. She was born in Hellertown on May 18, 1924 to the late George J. Sr. and Ella (Litz) Ringhoffer. She worked in Cadet nurses' training during wartime, earning an RN degree from Temple and later a B.S. from East Stroudsburg University. Charles F. Szvetecz, 91, of Hellertown, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the VNA Hospice House of St. Luke's, Lower Saucon Township. He was the husband of Mary D. Szvetecz, who passed away on Feb. 1, 2013. Born in Bethlehem on March 5, 1922 to the late Charles and Theresa Szvetecz, Charles served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during peacetime (1946). He was an industrial engineer at Mack Trucks, Allentown for many years until retiring. He was a faithful member of the Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Hellertown, where he served on its choir and built the St. Theresa's Shrine in the church. Robert Kopecek, who led Northampton Community College for 26 years while it significantly expanded course offerings and more than tripled the size of its student enrollment, died at his home in North Carolina on Thursday, the school announced. A news release on the college Website said Kopecek is “remembered as a visionary and hard-driving leader, determined throughout his presidency to expand access to education, to foster economic development, and to make Northampton a world-class community college.” Kopecek took over from the college’s founding president, Richard C.
