Steel City Volunteer Fire Company is located in the Steel City section of Lower Saucon Township, across the river from Freemansburg. Steel City Volunteer Fire Company was founded in 1958 to help protect the village of Steel City, which is geographically isolated from the rest of the township because of its location between the Lehigh River and an adjacent mountain. The fire company is identifiable as Northampton County Station 63. Steel City Volunteer Fire Company firefighters collaborate closely with their volunteer colleagues from Se-Wy-Co, Southeastern and Leithsville, in Lower Saucon; and Dewey Fire Company No. 1, in Hellertown. In addition to fire protection, Steel City Volunteer Fire Company also provides vehicle rescue services and water rescue services.
