SVHS Students Raise $1,500 for Alex's Lemonade Stand

Four students from Saucon Valley High School have succeeded in their goal of raising $1,500 for the pediatric cancer charity Alex's Lemonade Stand.

Four Saucon Valley High School seniors who are members of the school's Future Business Leaders of America chapter have succeeded in their goal of raising $1,500 for the pediatric cancer charity Alex's Lemonade Stand, Hellertown Mayor Richard Fluck announced at a borough council meeting.

The stand was set up over the summer along the Saucon Rail Trail near Grist Mill Park, and at the Saucon Valley Farmers' Market, which is held Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the borough's Water Street Park.

"After four weeks at the market, they've reached their goal of $1,500," Fluck said.

"That's excellent," remarked council vice president John Bate.

Rather than selling the lemonade, the students offered it to passersby for free, requesting that a donation be made to the charity in exchange for a glass.
