Local Businesswoman Hopes to Raise $1500 for Cystic Fibrosis

Stephanie Weitzman is a National Penn Bank manager in Hellertown and the 2013-2014 president of the Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce.

A Saucon Valley businesswoman and civic leader is planning to participate in a Celebrity Bartending Event for Cystic Fibrosis at Braveheart Highland Pub & Restaurant in Hellertown on Monday, Aug. 19 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Stephanie Weitzman is a National Penn Bank Manager in Hellertown and was recently named the 2013-2014 president of the Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce.

Proceeds from the Aug. 19 event will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF), for whom Weitzman has been named a 2013 "Finest Under Forty" (Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter) honoree.

She has announced that as an honoree she hopes to raise $1500 for the CFF by October.

"Through generous donors, this foundation creates medicine that cures more than symptoms," Weitzman said in a letter. "By keeping cystic fibrosis in the forefront of government, industry and research, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation also continues to advocate for families by establishing strong support centers."

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease that attacks the respiratory and digestive systems.

"As an honoree with the Finest Under Forty this year, I wish to show my support to the thousands of people afflicted with cystic fibrosis by raising awareness as well as funds," Weitzman said. "Some of these people have nothing, and I want to give them hope."
