Hellertown Fountain Glowing Purple for 'Relay'

The fountain in Hellertown's Dewtiller Plaza has turned purple in recognition of Saucon Valley Relay for Life, which will be held May 19-20. Coins tossed in the fountain this month will benefit the cancer charity.

In recognition of Saucon Valley Relay for Life--which annually raises funds for the American Cancer Society--the LED-lit fountain in Hellertown's has turned purple, relay co-chair Carol Schneider announced last week.

"All donations in the fountain for the month of May will be donated to the Relay For Life of Saucon Valley," Schneider also said. "Please take a walk down to the fountain and throw all your coins in and wish for the end of cancer."

While throwing their coins in the fountain, Schneider encouraged donors to snap photos of themselves next to it, in order to be eligible for Relay's "A Picture for a Picture" contest.
