Halloween Parade Needs Donations, Participants

In a news release Monday, Saucon Valley Halloween Parade chairman David Heintzelman announced that more support from the community is needed.

The 2011 Saucon Valley Halloween Parade urgently needs the support of local residents, parade chairman David Heintzelman announced in a news release Monday.

The parade, which is scheduled to kick off in Hellertown at 2pm on Sunday, Oct. 23, needs additional participants and donations in order to be "successful," Heintzelman said.

The theme for this year's parade is "Saucon Valley Super Heroes."

In contrast with previous years, participants in this year's parade will have the opportunity to strut down six blocks of Main Street before returning to the campus.

The parade's starting point will be at Rentzheimer Drive and Walnut Street in Hellertown.

Donations to the parade can be mailed to "Saucon Valley Halloween Parade," 326 Main St., Hellertown PA 18055. Questions should be directed to Heintzelman, who is supervisor at in Hellertown. The deadline for sign-ups for the parade is Oct. 14.

"This is for the kids and our community," Heintzelman in the news release. "Please consider giving and participating."
