Duck Derby Raises $3,200 for Cancer Society

Relay for Life of Saucon Valley's third annual Duck Derby fundraiser was held at Hellertown's Water Street Park on Sunday.

The third annual Relay for Life of Saucon Valley Duck Derby held Sunday in Hellertown raised $3,200 for the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life co-chair Carol Schneider announced.

The derby was held in the Saucon Creek at the borough's Water Street Park.

Money is raised through the adoption of yellow rubber ducks, which are dumped into the creek for a "race" to a finish line several hundred yards north of the Water Street Bridge.

In an email about the event, Schneider thanked everyone who adopted ducks, donated prizes, volunteered and came out to watch the spectacle.

As the derby demonstrates, "it takes more than a few people to have a successful event," she said.
