New Art Exhibit to Open at Heller Homestead Gallery

A retrospective exhibit of paintings and photographs by Coplay native James R.X. Heller will be on display at the Lower Saucon Township art gallery from March 3 through April 22. A "Meet the Artist" reception will be held Monday, March 5 from 7 to 9pm at

A new exhibit will open at the Heller Homestead Art Gallery in Lower Saucon Township on Saturday, March 3.

In a press release, the Saucon Valley Conservancy announced that the exhibit of paintings and photographs by Coplay native James R.X. Heller will be on display through April 22, 2012.

The gallery is open most weekends (excluding holiday weekends) from 1 to 4pm, both Saturday and Sunday. From May through November, the gallery's Sunday hours are noon to 3pm.

On Monday, March 5, a special "Meet the Artist" reception to celebrate the opening of the exhibit will be held from 7 to 9pm (with a snow date of Tuesday, March 6).

Members of the public are invited to attend the reception, which will be hosted by the conservancy. Donations will be accepted.

Heller, who know lives in Pine Grove, Pa., began his education at the University of Arizona, where he received of Bachelor of Arts degree in cultural anthropology. 

He later attended the Ringling School of Art in Florida and earned a Master's degree in art education from Kutztown University.

According to the press release, "he worked as an art teacher for Pine Grove Middle and High Schools in Schuylkill County, and also in commercial art."
