Winter 2014, a Long Cold One, with Delay!

Another Saucon Valley two-hour delay?   I know I was set on having a 'normal' week, but the weather is just not co-operating. If it's not the snow, it's the plummeting temperatures!
I noticed a lot of parents are getting peeved at Saucon Valley for making so many delays and cancellations. Saying that the school is making wimps out our kids?
It's not true! Our schools are only following protocol based on the health and safety of our kids. These temperatures are dangerous to our little ones! The schools aren't just randomly selecting rules, they are abiding by them.
It's just this Winter is a rare one. A long cold one!
The PA average temp for Dec. through Feb. is 28F-40F, that's an average that normally goes up and down. Of course we've had colder days, but 2014 has been riddled with cold spells and snow!!! I'd be surprised if altogether this Winter isn't one we all remember and talk about in years to come.
So, there is no reason to accuse our school of raising wussies, it's been an exceptional Winter and I don't think it's over.
People who are mad about today's delay might want to plan for a few more days this season of WTH???!
The rest of us are going to bundle up and make the best of it. The two hour delay is annoying to Kindergarten Parents, I KNOW, but, this too shall soon pass!
Side note; for all of you who claim you walked barefoot uphill both ways every day to school in a blizzard, I'm certain I could find the Winters' you speak of and embarrass you with the truth I have researched, oh, such embellished stories! But, I will offer, that if you add in the presence of Paul Bunyan, I'll give you half a credit for perpetuating the art of tall tales!
Altogether, put aside the anger and pull together as a community. Maybe some parents are really missing hours at work because of the school delays! How can we help, as everyone knows, money is just as frustrating as the weather can be?!
