Saucon Football

Awkward news, my 14.5 year old is pinned into making a decision  about continuing to play Football this year. He played last year for Middle School as a newbie. Trained faithfully all winter and until last week, when he realized August's schedule, well he is a smart kid, in the Gifted Program and has practical training  as a licensed hunter to know Bull Crap.  If it smells and looks like Bull Crap, it must be Bull Crap! August's schedule; Two practices per day for over week. He was told he will have to play JV as a Freshman in HS. He sees lots of work and bench time as 9th graders last year had a choice to stay down. he got a lot if bench time due to those Glory Hogs. He also sees no free time and work his other possibilities. He is also a musician.I Double practices? What are you thinking? Then again, I must go back to our only experience with the Youth League. 200 bucks down the tubes as our next son, 10 at the time, was honest that training like that for a ball game as a kid is just Bull Crap! Plus the total Bull Crap of fundraising and involuntarily volunteering. Here's a solution, cut the practices to twice a week.  Why not?The kids that are gifted and over zealous should get the recognition and scholarships, but not every kid wants to play for that reason. I know most start out playing for fun and 95% of fun is killed by regimen from Flags and up! That's six year old for cry aye!I think the Youth League and the Saucon FB teams are losing good players as a result. My 8 year old wanted to play this year. He has two big bros who protect him in backyard Football, due to the changes in weight for his age. I felt it was unsafe, he is properly weighted at 85 lbs. , but and because the league wanted to accept obese children for more money. Dangerous that a 110 could haul off on 85 pounder!Lesson you should learn. Dinner is not Twinkies with a Mountain Dew whilst playing Minecraft.Saucon Football needs a reality check as the High School team is not looking that great.  Maybe you are excluding the good realistic players as a result of just being unrealistic!?
