Today, however, will likely be the hottest day of the summer so far, with the temperature expected to top out at 100 degrees and an Excessive Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service in effect from noon until 8pm.

The heat warning has been issued because humidity will be higher today, which means heat indexes will be between 102 and 108 degrees in our area.

"The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely," the NWS said in its warning statement. "Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors."

How do you plan to stay cool today? Will you seal yourself off in an air-conditioned space or venture to  or for some cooling relief? Lastly, are you loving or hating our hotter-than-average (so far) summer?
