Second Summer Heat Wave Starts Today

The summer's second heat wave arrives today and won't let up at least until Tuesday.

If you enjoy baking, then the next five days are for you.

Summer's second heat wave arrives today with temperatures expected to hit 90 degrees.

But that's just the beginning, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures through Monday are going to be heating up, making for a heat wave of at least five days. A heat wave constitutes temperatures of 90 degrees or above for at least three consecutive days.

On Friday and Saturday, high temperatures in the Saucon Valley are expected to reach 95 degrees before dropping to 93 on Sunday and 90 degrees Monday.

If you must be out in the heat, here are some tips to help you stay safe from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control:

  • Limit your outdoor activity to morning and evening hours.

  • Cut down on exercise.
    • Try to rest often in shady areas.
    • Protect yourself from the sun by wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, and by putting on sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher.
