12th Annual Community Day Planned for Aug. 17

The 12th annual Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day will take place in Dimmick Park on Saturday, Aug. 17. A full day of family-friendly events is planned.

It's not too early to mark your calendars for the 12th annual Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day, which will be held in the borough's Dimmick Park on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Presented by the Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce and organized by a volunteer committee, Community Day has become a beloved, family-friendly tradition featuring food, vendors, live entertainment, games, children's activities, a grand prize drawing and a car show.

Local businessmen Bob Matey and Bob Hohman will be the honorees at this year's Community Day ceremony, along with Hellertown's Edward H. Ackerman Post 397 of the American Legion.

The planned schedule of events for this year's Community Day is as follows:

9:50 AM – Girl Scouts’ Flag Ceremony accompanied by patriotic music from Encore Studios 

10:00 AM – 2013 Opening Ceremony

10:00 AM – Kids’ Activities - Duck Pond/Train Ride/Speed Pitch Game/Kids' Korner 

11:00 AM – En Avant School of Dance (performance)

Noon – Recognition of 2013 Honorees: Bob Hohman, Bob Matey and the Hellertown American Legion 

Noon – 5:00 PM Car Show 

1:00 PM – Lower Saucon Township Police K-9 Unit Demonstration 

1:00 – 3:00 PM – Live music with “The Deadliners” 

3:00 PM – En Avant School of Dance (performance)

4:00 – 4:30 PM – Karate Arts Demonstration by Saucon Valley Tang Soo Do 

4:30 – 5:00 PM – Saucon Valley High School Band Performs 

5:00 PM – Grand Prize Drawing, Closing
