On Aug. 11, 2011, Police Officer Robert Lasso was shot and killed while responding to a disturbance call at a home on Washington Street in Freemansburg. Officer Lasso served the Freemansburg Borough Police Department for nine years. He is survived by his wife and two young children. Proceeds from the 5K run/walk will be donated to the Robert Lasso Memorial Fund, to benefit them.
The 5K run/walk will start and finish at the Bethlehem YMCA, 430 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. The event will start at 8:30am on Saturday, April 21, 2012. Race day registration will be available at the YMCA beginning at 7am.
The registration fee for the run/walk is $20. Race packets will be available for pick-up on April 20, 2012 at the Bethlehem YMCA from noon to 8pm. Packets can also be picked up on race day at the YMCA from 7 to 8am.

The race course itself is mostly flat and fast, with two challenging inclines to start and finish. Awards will be given for overall male and female finishers, as well as masters male and female finishers.
