Senior Spotlight on Dana Linsky

Cross country, swimming and track are three sports that keep Dana busy during the school year.

Saucon Valley senior Dana Linsky swims year-round with her club team at Lehigh Valley Aquatics. Dana credits her coaches, who have been great and provided the necessary support during her four years as a member of the Saucon Valley swim team.

"My father swam when he was younger," she explained. "My parents had me try it when I was 10. I loved it and have been swimming ever since."

In 2011, winning a medal at districts as a member of the Saucon's 400 Medley Relay Team (which also included Sam DaSilva, Amanda Long and Rebekah Evangelista) was a career highlight for Dana. Any time she did not swim to her full potential would be her disappointment, she said. Natalie Coughlin and Cullen Jones are swimmers she admires.

In the 2012-13 season, Dana was elected one of the swim team captains. The 200 IM and the 100 backstroke are the events Dana swims. And she expects to continue swimming at Susquehanna University.

In addition to swimming, Dana runs cross country in the fall and track events in the spring.

Ed Kolosky, who has coached her in all three sports, adds:

"Dana has provided me with a bit more of an understanding of what it is like to excel in a sport that takes place in water—swimming—and to then turn it around and work as hard as your physical limitations will allow you to do to achieve your dreams on land, running. She has done that AND was able to bear with me for four years, two of those four years for swimming, as well as (cross country) and Track and Field."

He added: "Dana was and IS a wonderful young female athlete who will leave a 'LEGACY' behind here at Saucon. I will allude to her for the remaining years of my coaching tenure, so that future student athletes may use her work ethic as a stepping stone to build their own. I'd be remiss if I did not credit her loving and supportive parents for her successes. PARENTS MAKE OUR CHILDREN! I wish Dana the best of luck, health and happiness. God bless."

Dana has a sister, Marisa, and is the daughter of Don and Michele Linsky.
