Tree Sale Helps Aspiring Musicians

Saucon Valley Music Connection's annual tree sale raises money to send SVSD musicians to a national competition.

The Saucon Valley Music Connection has begun its annual Christmas tree sale outside  at 69 Main Street in Hellertown.

The sale started Thursday night and will run until Saturday, Dec. 11. It offers trees six to eight-and-a-half feet tall, with prices ranging from $30 to $50. This year, the Music Connection is hoping to sell approximately 200 trees to local residents decorating their homes for the holidays.

All proceeds from the tree sale will help fund the Saucon Valley Music Connection, a volunteer organization made up of local parents who support the 's music programs.

The organization holds several fundraisers a year to help offset the cost of an annual band competition held outside the state. Last spring, the group's fundraising helped send students to a competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The tree sale has been held annually since the 1980s, and is operated by students in the music programs, who volunteer their time to help with it.
