Muhlenberg College junior and Saucon Valley graduate Ian Gimbar was recently named to the All-Centennial Conference first team after helping the Muhlenberg College football team earn a postseason berth in 2013, the school announced in a news release.
A first-team selection for the second straight year, Gimbar started every game at outside linebacker for the Mules. He was a key part of a defense that led the Centennial Conference and ranked 18th in Division III by allowing just 14.5 points per game, the release said.
Gimbar finished fifth on the team with 48 tackles, including 8.5 for loss. He also added four sacks to bring his career total to 19, just 3.5 away from tying the all-time school record. He also set the program’s single-season record with 14.5 sacks a year ago.
Muhlenberg finished the 2013 season second in the conference with a 7-2 mark.
The Mules were 8-3 overall and earned their 10th postseason berth in 14 seasons, dropping a close game to Salisbury in the ECAC South Atlantic Bowl.
