Senior Spotlight: Natalie Roche

Natalie Roche is a standout volleyball player for Saucon Valley.

Natalie Roche wanted to try something new when she entered Saucon Valley High School and chose volleyball, a sport that was not especially easy for her to play.

"I have improved a lot and now I love the game!" she said recently.

The team's lone senior, Natalie said, "I enjoy bringing my positive attitude to each game and practice. I've been through three head coaches and Coach (Christa) Paul is awesome.... I'm glad I got her in my senior year."

Roche's career highlights include: 2012 varsity captain, "the kill" the 5'4" Outside Hitter made during the 2011 Southern Lehigh game, and this year's Northwestern Lehigh games. She credits sophomore teammates: #18 Venessa Frans, #20 Nicole Morin and #14 Lauren Fischer for always "keeping a smile on my face."

Natalie said her greatest disappointment is "only being able to have one season with Coach Paul."

Roche has been active in Girl Scouts for 13 years, involved with theater for 10 years, Model UN for 4 years, a member of the select choir for two years and class president for two years.

Her future plan is to enroll in a four-year college and major in elementary education. If the opportunity arises, she said she would consider coaching volleyball.

Her favorite dessert is cupcakes.

In addition to spending free time in a theater-related activity, she likes to spend time with her 5-year-old cousin, Brady.

Natalie has two older siblings, M.J. and Johanna, and is the daughter of Michael and Denise Roche.
